Peter Montgomery is a lifelong resident of the Kingston area who has been painting and drawing his entire life. In the 1960s Peter was employed as draftsman at the City of Kingston Engineering Dept. In the 1970s he worked in Engineering Drawing Dept. at Queens University. A few years later Peter went on to form his own successful business working as a technical illustrator with his wife Judy. During these years Peter attended art classes with well known local artists David Brown and Fred Schonberger among others. He has worked in watercolor, oils, and acrylics, as well as sculpture. Creating alongside other artists, and in such varied media and application, has lent a depth of experience and layers of influence to his art.
Peter feels a strong attachment to Gananoque. His mother and her family were raised here. His grandmother grew up in the Maple Grove area.
Since moving to Gananoque five years ago Peter has enjoyed successful shows in Gananoque at the Playhouse Theater Galleries, the Springer Gallery and the Firehall Gallery. His paintings are featured in the private collections of many clients across North America and abroad.
His style is a cross between conceptual, impressionistic realism, creating soft calm environments with a twist in concept relating to subject and story.
Peter currently lives in Gananoque. |
